Names Menu

The Names Menu provides access to some of the most central and frequently used functions for entering and maintaining core data in CMD:

Enter/Modify/Delete Names provides the central working area for the entering, deleting, or updating of most of the information about names in your CMD data files.

When you need to update information, call up the family or individual for whom changes need to be made by clicking either the Find Family or Find Individual buttons. Once the name is on the dialog, click directly into any field that needs to be updated and make the change. You can click any enabled check button on the navigation bars to save the update, or you can simply call up another name and the changes will be saved automatically.

Print Names in File gives you direct access to the Print Names dialog, where you select the group of names you wish to print, and then decide what form the names should take (labels, lists, directory, e-mail, etc). You can access Print Names by clicking the Printer icon on the speed bar next to the two icons for the Enter/Modify/Print Names dialog, or you can type Ctrl-P.

Interest File allows you access to a dialog that looks similar to the regular Enter/Modify/Delete Names dialog, except that it's designed to allow you to enter names into your CMD who are interests or potential members of your congregation. There are fields on this dialog suitable to tracking their progress toward membership or discipleship in your church. You may also access the Interest File by pressing Ctrl-I.

Quick List allows you to create ad hoc categories (think of a category as a user-definable field) for virtually any purpose you need. Quick Lists are great for temporary lists or lists that need to be created from your file for which there is not a field already set up.

Visitation brings up a stand-alone Visitation dialog that is the same as the one accessible from Enter/Modify/Delete Names except that you can work more quickly with the stand-alone version if you have a number of visitation reports to enter into the visitation file. You can also access the Visitation dialog by typing Ctrl-V.
