Name Tag Setup dialog

The Name Tag Setup dialog, available when you click Name Tag Setup on the Enter Attendance dialog, allows you to determine the specific parameters needed to print name tags. The parameters are displayed on the Enter Attendance dialog, so you can easily tell when they need to be adjusted.

Here are the parameters:

Name To Print. You have 4 choices here, which include Goes By & Last Name, First Name & Last Name, Goes By Only, and First Name Only. Select your preference from the drop-down list.

Include Title With Name. If a title has been saved for a given name, it will be included when the name tag is printed if this item is checked.

Print Border on Name Tag. The white labels may be a bit stark. Checking this item causes a rounded box line to be printed around the border of the label.

Printer Name. This item is read-only, and displays the currently saved Dymo LabelWriter name.

Label Size. CMD prints name tags on either shipping labels or name badge labels. There are 3 sizes: 2-1/8 x 4, 2-1/4 x 4, and 2-5/16 x 4 inch name tags/shipping labels. See Name Tag Printer & Form Information for more on where to buy the shipping labels or name tag forms.

Label Source. Generally the choice of Automatic is appropriate. However, if you purchase the Twin Turbo, you'll need to specify which roll, the one on the right or the one on the left, is to be used for name tags. The Twin Turbo allows you to load two spools of labels at one time. If you have a large church, it may be useful to load both sides with the same size labels at the beginning of an event so that you will always have a backup spool of labels or name badges at the ready. To switch between them, just return to this dialog and select the other roll and you can keep going with no interruption.

General Use. This is a convenience parameter, which sets the Enter Attendance dialog up for use with name tags automatically for you when you first arrive there. If your general use is going to be to mark attendance only, you can select that, and when you come to Enter Attendance, you won't have to even think about name tags. However, if you generally wish to print a name tag at the same time you are marking a name present, then you can select that choice as your general use so that Enter Attendance will be ready with your normal routine when you enter it.

Printer Select. This item is similar to other places in CMD, however here you are needing to find the Dymo printer installed for your computer as it's displayed in your computer's list of printers. Once CMD knows which one it is, it will find it automatically for you.

Fonts. We did our testing based on 48 point Times New Roman Bold. Feel free to change this to suit your needs. However, the calculations for placement of the text on the label may vary a bit if you stray too far from the size and font we suggest. CMD will automatically select a smaller font size for a given name if their first or last name does not fit properly within the label's width, so you can set the largest font size to work with most names to make the names readable from the greatest distance and CMD will handle the exceptions.

Save Options

The first Save button, Save Parameters as Defaults, causes the selections currently on the dialog to be saved as the working parameters for printing name tags. Of course, any of these can be changed at any time and saved again. Whenever you click this button, the changes will be immediately in force when you return to the Enter Attendance dialog.

The second Save button, Use Selected Parameters for This Session Only, implements the changes immediately for use when you return to Enter Attendance, but they will not be permanently saved in your Name Tag parameters file. They will only be in force until you leave Enter Attendance, or unless you return here to change them.
