Format B

Format B prints name, address, and your choice of available phone numbers. In addition, you may elect to print the home phone number after the address information, or before the name line is printed. To print this format, select the first of the Format B options on the Church Directory Format combo box.

Format B may also print family pictures within the regular Format B directory page if you so desire. If you wish to include pictures, select the second of the Format B options on the Church Directory Format combo box. When pictures are printed, then are printed above the name and address information for the family with the picture. Further, additional space is inserted above the picture to separate it from the preceding family.

Note that printing Format B with pictures may leave more open space at the end of some columns than would normally happen with a text-only directory. This is because Format B with pictures is programmed to keep the picture and family information together in the same column to make sure readers will be able to more easily identify which family information goes with the family picture.

In general, the text output form will look something like this:

Mr. & Mrs. John and Mary Smith

 Judy, David, Tommy

 1421 Home Ave

 Riverside, CA 92050

 909-555-1212 (Home)

 909-777-8989 (John's Work)

 909-987-6543 (Mary's Cell)

 909-222-2222 (John's Pager)

The exact format will depend on your selection of phone numbers to be included. You make these selections on the Phones/Dates Setup dialog. This dialog also lets you determine if the Home phone number is to be printed before the name, and whether or not you want to include the printing of birth and/or anniversary dates.

Printing the home number on the first line is sometimes requested by companies which print your church directory.

You may alter the order of Last Name/First Name, inclusion of titles, and how names are separated using other controls. You may adjust the tab spacing used for the dependents, address, and phone information by altering the value in the Tab Space edit box.

Note that if you send this format to disk, a tab character is placed in the appropriate place in the name and address. The actual tab spacing, however must be defined in your word processor.

Asterisks

If you get a name that prints with asterisks around it like this:

 *** Smith, John ***

...it means one of two things. You have the family marked for inclusion in the church directory but no individuals in the family marked for inclusion (see the field just above the Add New Family Member button in the Family Data area on the Enter/Modify/Delete Names dialog).

Or, it means that there is no head of household person marked for inclusion. You must have either a husband, wife, single parent, single adult, or partner in the person's Family Status field. Also, do not put more than one single parent or single adult in a family. Use partner or husband and wife.
