Newsletter & Household (Print Names)

 

The Newsletter & Household box on the Selection page of the Print Names dialog allows you to specify that names marked to receive the  newsletter and/or the type of Household you wish to specify. Both choices are enabled after you click Field-based Selections in the First Step Selection box in the upper left corner of Print Names.

If you wish to print a newsletter list, simply click the check box to the left of Newsletter List. When this item is checked, only those names that are marked to receive the newsletter will be included in the list.

If you wish to send the newsletter only to member households, click Households, then select Members.

Note that you can apply the Households criteria to any other selection. You are not limited to Newsletter.

Duplicate Labels in a Newsletter List

One of our most frequent support calls has to do with reports in which duplicate labels are printed. When this happens, it usually means that the list you specify on the Selection page is too general, or it means that you have more than one person in a family marked to receive a newsletter.

We recommend that you mark only one person to get the newsletter. The spouse's name will be added where there is one and if you have indicated that you wish to include the spouse's name by clicking on the Include Spouse check box on the Print Control page.

If you have more than one person marked to get the newsletter, however, a label for each name will be generated. If you have elected to Include Spouse, two labels will be generated. The solution is to go back to such families and unmark all but one of the adult family names as a newsletter recipient.
