Check Box Defaults Preference

The Check Box Defaults tab page on the Local Preferences dialog allow you to set defaults for each of the check box items for both the Family Data area and the Individuals Data area. The states that you select will be the default states for each of the listed fields whenever a new family is created or a new individual is added to the family.

You can change these defaults at any point without affecting data already stored. They will have immediate affect, however, the next time you enter a family or family member.

Who Should Get the Newsletter?

Several of the defaults allow you to determine who should have the newsletter addressed to them in a family. Generally you will select only one. We suggest the husband in a two-parent family since CMD can (at your option) print both the husband's and wife's names on the mailing label or envelope.

There might be times when you wish to send a separate newsletter to other adults living in your house such as an older adult child still living at home. Generally, however, most times you'll want to only send one per household.
