CMD 2016.2 New Features Guide

CMD 2016.2 adds a brand new feature, several new tools, and three church directory forms in addition to a few minor bug fixes.

New Feature

You can now enter external bar code numbers for names in your file for use with bar coded items you purchase from a third party. These bar codes can then be scanned and used for tracking attendance within CMD. Here's one example of a third-party bar code that goes on your key ring:

KeyBarCode

CMD provides a dialog where you enter in the number (14753 in the case of our example above) into a name's record, and then when you scan for attendance, CMD can be told to use these external numbers for the scan.

This new feature is available only in the FMX version.

Print Names Build-out for FMX

We continue to make progress toward building out the few remaining Output Forms in Print Names in the FMX version. 2016.2 adds:

Bulk Mail Sort

Pictorial Church Directory (with or without phone numbers)

ASCII Export for Church Directory

A new setup dialog was created for the ASCII Export for Church Directory to allow you to elect to show the birth date as a Full Date, Month/Day, or Day/Month

Several other items were optimized and minor things tweaked to make printing more consistent and easier

Tools Build-out for FMX

We also finished three additional items on the Tools Menu in 2016.2:

Hot List

Prayer List

SnapShot

Bugs Report and Fixed

FMX bugs fixed:

Could not connect to a data file already in existence.

A problem with the drop-down combo boxes on the Enter/Modify/Delete Names dialog caused the text to disappear and only one character could be displayed. This problem was the fault of one of the tools we use that make these features available. The provider has fixed their tool, and it is now incorporated into 2016.2 and works fine now.

Affiliation selection was not working when printing attendance forms.

Classic bugs fixed:

Adult cell phone numbers were not included when printing a church directory as an ASCII Export file.
