Selecting Names Using Envelope Numbers (Contributions)

The Envelope Numbers that you can store for names in your CMD data file may be used to enter contributions. To use them, click the Envelope Entry tab on the Name Selection Notebook in the upper left corner of the Enter/Modify/Delete Contributions dialog.

This tab page shows the full name of the person selected by the envelope number entry if you check the Display Name check box. You can also click the List Envelope Numbers button if you wish to see an ordered list of all envelope numbers.

Entering Contributions by Envelope Number

Here are the steps to follow:

Enter the number in the edit box provided. Click the Enter New Contribution button. If the envelope number is a valid number saved in your system, the cursor will be moved to the first field in the center section where the actual contribution data is entered. Entering data from this point is the same as it is when selecting by a name. See Enter Contributions Data for more information.

Once the contribution is finished, you'll be taken back to the envelope number entry box where you can enter the next number. Note the the prior number has been left there but will be highlighted. All you need do is enter the next number if you are ready to move on to the next envelope. If you wish to edit one of the other contributions for this name, you can select it from the list on the far right side of the dialog and make whatever changes are needed.

While you can make changes to other contributions for this envelope number holder, we recommend that you make such changes from the Name Entry tab page instead of the Envelope Entry tab page.

Special Note

When you click the Enter New Contribution button, the first column and second column of controls are disabled until you finish the contribution entry by either clicking the Save button or the abort button. This is true for both the Name Entry and Envelope Entry tab pages.
