CMD 2015.4 New Features Guide

CMD 2015.4 continues with the further building out of CMD 2015 FMX, and a minor tweak or two to Classic.

Classic

There were a couple of places where the old Pager and/or Pager Confidential fields were still popping up. These are deprecated fields in CMD 2015 (almost no one uses a pager any more, and for those who do, use the Other Phone field to store that). I think I've got the last of them taken care of now.

FMX

2015.4 adds a number of finishes and improvements to the Print Names section. The list of Output Forms that FMX can now produce has grown considerably. In 2015.2, only printed forms in the Utilities Menu and most of the Interest File sections were completed. 2015.3 saw the first few in Print Names Output Forms, along with the major forms in Contributions.

In 2015.4, all Output Forms in the Interest File are completed.

In 2015.4, in Print Names, the saving of Parameters is now fully supported.

In 2015.4, these Output Forms are now available in Print Names:

Known Issues

CMD 2015 FMX is still a good ways from final completion, and we will keep working toward it all year long. It is likely that many features won't be finished until CMD 2016, but we will make a good faith effort to complete as much of it as possible during this year. In the meantime, we do hope that once you are comfortable with CMD Classic, that you'll venture over to the FMX side once in awhile to test out the new features. We think you'll like using it. Most of the dialogs will be similar enough that you won't have any trouble using the features there.

There are a few minor things about Enter/Modify/Delete Names as of now:

There is an issue with the tab order on the address pages. For whatever reason, the compiler is not correctly allowing me to order the field edit boxes correctly when you tab through them. Most of the trouble centers around the last two or three fields, so as you are entering addresses there, make sure you are in the field you intend to be!

Specifically, on the Residence Address page, you can tab correctly to all fields until you get into the Zip Code field. When you press tab there, Country is by passed and you go straight to the Map field. On the Mail Address page, when you press Tab in the State field, you are sent to the Country field. I have not yet checked to see if this issue has been resolved in the new edition of the compiler to which I updated recently. I am hoping this will be resolved with that update.

Map hyper link. This link does not yet send you to an internet map of the address but will in CMD 2015.5. The compiler update mentioned above now contains what I need to make that happen.

Help System. I have purchased the tool required for the FMX help system, and have begun working on it. I'm trying to work at it as I go along, and hopefully will have at least the beginnings of a help system for FMX with 2015.5.

In Contributions, there are no Pledge Statements yet. We're still waiting to hear from those of you who need pledge statements to let me know which statements from Classic you need so that I will know where to focus my efforts at this point. With the end of the year looming soon, I would really like to know what I need to have prepared!

FMX is still a work in progress, but I am pleased with how it is turning out. Remember, this version is the basis for the upcoming Mac version, and I know a lot of you are waiting for that!
