The Ministerial Director

Though the work of the Ministerial Director will vary somewhat from conference to conference, there are a few key concepts and practices that are common to most Ministerial Director job descriptions.

This section is designed to provide an overview of what it means to undertake this important role, some things you can do to get started, and some things to keep in mind as you begin your work.

One suggestion those who have come before you would make: don't hesitate to contact a more seasoned, fellow Ministerial Director when you have questions. Your union Ministerial Director is always a great place to start, as well as other Ministerial Directors in your union territory. The NAD Ministerial Department staff are also willing to help in any way they can. If you come to an important moment, situation, or decision and are unsure how best to proceed, please take the time to contact a colleague for counsel, or take a look at the wide array of topics that are covered here in this manual. Better to be well-informed and prepared because your actions may well have reverberations that extend wider than you perhaps are used to when you were a field pastor.
