Micro to Macro View

The Ministerial Director can play an important role in helping pastors weave the vision of the conference into the fabric of the local church.

It is somewhat sobering to realize the often high percentage of pastors who do not know the mission statement, vision and values of their own conference.  It can not be assumed the pastor knows these items well.  (Of course this means the Ministerial Director must be familiar with these as well!)

There often exists a gap between the day-to-day duties and agenda of a local pastor and putting into practice the mission of the conference.  This usually happens unintentionally because the make up of a day’s work between the pastor and the conference leadership often do not mirror one another except in broad strokes.  Here are some suggestions to help the pastor (micro view) from omitting the conference mission and vision (macro view):

Encourage the pastor to regularly visit the conference website watching for content that expresses the values and direction of the conference

Remind the pastor on a regular basis about the conference mission and vision

Dialogue with the pastor to learn what the church is doing to further the mission of the conference

Contact the head elder (if appropriate) to dialogue as to how the church can help support the pastor in implementing the mission and vision of the conference

Have the pastor suggest ways the conference can help the pastor and the local church in implementing the mission and vision

While there are other strategies and methods for interconnecting the work of the pastor with the mission, vision and values of the conference, these five should help in getting started.
