Print Postcard Message or Response Cards

CMD 2015 incorporates a simple message writer that you can use to compose and print a brief message that will be printed on the back of USPS Pre-Stamped postcards. At this point, CMD only prints to this postcard style.

You can also print a large number of response cards, meaning cards that are addressed to a single address. Both features are available on the Print Postcard Message or Response Cards item on the Utilities Menu.

Response Cards

When the dialog appears, note the pane in the upper left corner labeled Address Response Cards. Use this section to print any number of postcards to the same address.

If you’d like to use one of the return addresses you’ve defined for CMD as the delivery address for the response cards you are about to print, you can select it from the Select Return Address as Delivery Address combo. If you do not have any return addresses defined, you can double-click directly in the Return Address combo to get the Preferences dialog that allows you to define a return address.

If you wish, you can delete the address that’s showing and type in any address you like as the actual delivery address.

Additionally, you can elect to have the first line printed in bold, and have lines printed where the return address would normally go so that those who receive the cards can write in their name and address.

Note that if you wish to create response cards for any group of names in your CMD data file, use the Postcards Output Form in Print Names!

When you have determined the delivery address, entered the number of cards to be printed, are satisfied with the font style, size, and feed position, click the Address Postcards button to begin addressing the postcards.

Postcard Message

To print a message on the back of a USPS Pre-Stamped postcard, type in the message you’d like to print in the large memo area in the Print Message pane of the dialog. You’ll also need to enter the number of cards you wish to print, and select the Feed Position, font, and printer.

Click Print Message to begin printing the message.

If you wish to save the message for later use, click the Save Message button. You can retrieve a saved message any time by clicking Retrieve Message.

Please Note!

This is NOT meant to be a full-featured word processor, and the margins may or may not represent the boundaries of the postcards you are printing. We recommend that you print only one card, using regular paper stock as a test. You can then see where the text prints by holding the paper up against the postcard to make sure that your text will stay within the postcard’s boundaries. You may have to adjust your text and print more samples on plain paper before actually printing to the postcard stock.
